en truly exemplifies compassion and dedication to learning and the NICU and Peds teams are so fortunate to have her in this role.
Jen was nominated for her empathetic and compassionate teaching approach, and for serving as a role model for a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. Jen recognizes each learner’s individual style and needs by being sensitive to their work schedule and making teaching sessions encouraging and non-threatening. This is evident by her naturally supportive and humble nature.

She communicates with the educators from other maternal child areas with a mutual sharing of teaching tools. One teaching tool was the 3 D’s--Deny, Dismiss & Delay when it came to assessing a patient. She took the time to work hard on understanding the differences and then produced scenarios by collaborating with members of the NICU education team. She has become the go-to person when needing help articulating situations in a way all can understand. Jen was supportive in the coordination with educators from the ED and Labor and Delivery, to instruct participants at the Peds symposium on the processes for a Code Birth. By joining forces, we gained a better understanding of each department’s role in these cases. Jen also spent time with the ED Clinical Specialist on a National Pediatric Readiness assessment to help the ED RNs improve care for our Peds patients.

Jen truly exemplifies compassion and dedication to learning and the NICU and Peds teams are so fortunate to have her in this role.
