My wife and myself have been blessed with 4 beautiful girls, 3 of which have been delivered at WinnMed. That being said, my wife and I have seen a lot of OB nurses on a lot of rotations. A large percentage of the OB nurses are very knowledgeable, but my wife and I immediately could sense that our OB nurse that just came onto shift, Ellie Kuennen, was different. Most nurses would check in every few hours with us, and it was always sporadic. Not Ellie. Right as she came onto shift, she immediately offered help, and she even brought me a sandwich as my wife was in active labor and I didn't want to miss anything. Ellie has such good bedside manners, and she explained things so that we could understand them, as well as why she was making the recommendations that she was, all in a very calm and reassuring manner. Again, I've seen dozens and dozens of OB nurses, and Ellie brought such a calming presence to a naturally chaotic situation that is delivering a baby. Most nurses come into the room, check to see how progress is, and then leave. Not Ellie. She skillfully, professionally, and diligently worked with our PCP to change my wife's position to get my daughter in the right position to finally be delivered, all while providing immediate relief to my wife by doing so. Ellie is such a genuinely good-hearted, extremely knowledgeable, and talented nurse that WinnMed, my family, and countless other families are blessed with having her be a part of our lives. Ellie is the standard; the example of what all OB nurses should strive to be.
