Because Traci seemed so open and non-judgmental, I was able to ask her some sensitive questions about my recovery that I didn’t feel comfortable asking anyone else.
Beyond her excellent clinical care, Traci was just delightful as a person. She communicated everything very clearly which was important since I was groggy from my surgery. She was also very attentive and seemed to anticipate all my needs before I even knew I had them. In the past, I’ve had some post-operative anxiety/sadness and I anticipated having a complete hysterectomy would trigger some of those intense emotions. However, I had none of them, which I attribute to Traci’s relaxed, warm, and positive energy. She had the attitude of someone who genuinely loves what she’s doing, which allowed me to ask for things (more Jell-O please!) without feeling like I was bothering her. Because she seemed so open and non-judgmental, I was able to ask her some sensitive questions about my recovery that I didn’t feel comfortable asking anyone else. All the medical professionals I came in contact with today were fantastic but Traci, who went above and beyond, made me want to fill out this nomination form. I hugged Traci when I was discharged and felt a little sad that I would probably never see her again. When I got into the car I told my husband I wanted to do something to recognize Traci and he told me he felt the same way and had already uploaded the form. For all these reasons and probably ones I’m forgetting about, I think Traci Brooks deserves a DAISY Award in recognition of her stellar professional and personal skills!
