We are a family of nurses, CRNAs, lawyers, and police officers. We know what excellent nursing care looks like. We know what a skilled nurse in his or her profession looks like. Erica Pomnean is a skilled nursing professional and I believe those skills saved my niece's life on numerous occasions. Her knowledge of medical emergencies and the ability to act upon them are and were greatly assuring for my family. Erica was able to observe my niece's symptoms, and take the appropriate action, give the ordered medication to control the specific situation, and help my niece. There is an expertise in giving good nursing care. Erica has that expertise and the skill. Even though we knew things, Erica took the time to explain procedures and diagnosis to us. She made us feel a part of the plan of care for our loved one. Allowed us to participate in the care to a certain extent. She made us feel needed and cared about. And this makes a family feel better about the care of their family member. We never had to look for Erica. She was always there when we needed her. The IV pumps were always attended to. Bedside care was always done. Erica always addressed my niece by name, and spoke to her in a calm and reassuring manner. We felt safe and secure that Erica would care for our loved one. Simple things count in nursing, and are as important as the big things. Erica manages them all. My family is grateful and thankful for Erica!
