Jo-ann Te is the picture of nursing excellence. She always provides excellent bedside nursing care and always has a positive attitude towards her patients and staff. What really sets her apart from her peers is her ability to have difficult conversations with her patients when they are hurting emotionally as well as physically. Recently we had a patient that was well known to our unit. He has been battling his cancer for years and his time was coming to an end. He confided in Jo-Ann that he was struggling with the fact that he hasn’t spoken to his two children in years. Jo-Ann helped him call his wife and initiate the conversation on contacting his children. Contact was made. The patient got to facetime with his children and was so proud to introduce them to Jo-Ann. The patient went home to hospice and passed 2 days later. Jo-Ann, not only helped him get peace but also helped his wife have peace knowing that he got that opportunity before it was too late. This is just one example of her care. Every shift she makes a difference to her patients emotionally as well as physically.
