Ray received several nominations and this is some of what her coworkers had to say about her. To say I've never met a nurse like Ray before is an understatement. She is a supervisor on ICU, however she ALWAYS makes sure her nurses are taken care of and aren't in need of anything. In the ICU things can change in a blink of an eye, I know for a fact we can always count on Ray to have our backs, be a shoulder to cry on, and a brain to pick for ideas when it comes to patient care. I have seen her in rooms getting families whatever they need and being a listening ear when they need to rant, cry, or laugh. I strive to be like Ray daily; she is the exact model of what a great nurse should look like. She will fight for patients and her nurses. From going to family members when their loved one is dying and making sure they are ok in the lobby of CCU or in the hallways to see if there is anything they need or just be a shoulder to cry on for these families, to always being there at any point when any nurse needs her. She is always busy doing something in the office but is always happy to help if a nurse calls her for a patient. She also is a good listener of everything, she truly provides care that you would want your family to receive. I remember her helping me with a turn for one of my patients, and the patient was asking for a Coca-Cola, which is a drink that we do not have in CCU. The next thing I know, Ray comes back a few minutes later with 2-3 bottles of Coca-Cola for my patient. Ray had done that on her own free-will. My patient was beyond excited. Little things like that make Ray a joy to work with. She is someone that I look up and hope I can become half the nurse she is! I truly cannot think of anymore more deserving of this award than Ray.
