She made a huge impact on my life and inspired me to fulfill what I have always wanted to do: become a nurse.
I have two children, born many years apart. My first experience was with a different hospital; with my youngest, it was at Kaiser. I was met by Julia in triage, and she followed me from that point all the way through my delivery. She listened, gave me options and made sure I understood everything that was happening. When plans changed or I needed anything, she was on it. Even with things I hadn't thought of, she made sure I was as comfortable as one could be during birth. She made a huge impact on my life and inspired me to fulfill what I have always wanted to do: become a nurse. It has been two years since meeting her, and I still think about the kindness, patience and love she showed to my family and I. She knew nothing about where I was in life and how much I needed the care that she gave to me. I am now in nursing school, hoping to go into labor and delivery to be the same person she is, giving the above and beyond care to mothers and their new babies. She is everything right about the medical field, and she deserves recognition for the hard work she puts in for patients.
