She is one amazing professional nurse who is always available to the Veteran community. I’ve watched her for years as I wasn’t the only one she made herself available to. Her work ethic as a nurse is second to none.
I am one of your senior 84-year-old disabled Marine Corps Veterans. Needless to say, I have many VA appointments at both Bedford and Jamaica Plains facilities. My primary care physician is at the Bedford clinic which is literally hours closer than J.P. In essence, it’s a lot easier and quicker for me to go to the Bedford facility. In fact, it’s not only quicker and more convenient but also literally hours different due to traffic and mileage. I’m literally 20 – 30 minutes away from my home to Bedford. And miles and hours away from J.P.
I’ve had surgery and other procedures done at J.P. and have gone to Bedford for follow up. One of the surgeries required a lot of medical checkups for months, and initially, I attempted to go to my primary care MD’s nurse, Mano, to get her professional advice on the surgery. This wonderful, extremely professional, and caring nurse came out to see me. She reviewed the surgery, knew it needed medical attention, did so, and changed the bandages after treating it with medication, which truly blessed me.
This nurse made herself available to attend to me, I believe, it could have been during her lunch hour. This was so amazing to me I came more frequently (earlier than lunch time) and she would always drop whatever she was at work with and made time in her extremely busy schedule to see me and also treat my recent surgery which always needed medical attention. This went on for many weeks, and she always did so with a smile and never made me feel I was bothersome. She made a way. Oh! I have even tried to give her a nice monetary tip, not once (but many times) and she always thanked me for the attempt, but said she couldn’t and wouldn’t go against the VA terms and conditions. I even left a tip on a side table, but she caught me and said, “No, sorry.” Mano is the best of the best of all nurses! Acknowledgment is due and can be made to her. I highly recommend her for this award.
