Candice provided emotional support to the parents throughout their entire visit. She held the mother when the news was broken to them and allowed ample grieving time.
Candice was the charge nurse on the day of a pediatric code. When the week-old infant arrived, Candice was quick to respond by clearing a room, designating roles and tasks to each staff member in the room, and activating life-saving measures. She acted diligently and professionally to make sure everyone in the room remained calm and stayed on task. She was a phenomenal resource to all of the staff from the hospital and aircraft service. Ultimately, after several hours, we did not achieve the desired outcome. Candice and other staff members conducted a debrief immediately after for staff in real-time, which was much appreciated by everyone involved. Having several newer staff members, Candice took it upon herself to educate staff on the pediatric crash cart and Broslow bag. Candice provided emotional support to the parents throughout their entire visit. She held the mother when the news was broken to them and allowed ample grieving time. Candice and the Chaplain went as far as retrieving footprints from the child as a gift for the parents since they were never given the opportunity during a difficult delivery/NICU stay, the mother expressed. Candice worked tirelessly, ensuring the family and staff were looked after during a difficult loss for everyone. She stood out as a nurse and leader who truly cares about those she works with and those she cares for during her shifts.
