Pam has served her entire 41-year nursing career at Akron Children’s, dedicated to improving the care delivered to children and advancing the role of nursing in the organization. She has spent her entire career trailblazing new roles in nursing. On four different occasions throughout her nursing career, Pam assumed roles that never existed before. She was the first Case Manager, the first Nursing Performance Improvement Coordinator, the first Associate Chief Nursing Officer, and, in her current role, the first Chief Nursing Information Officer. With such an amazing history of firsts, I can’t think of anyone more fitting to be the first Honoree of the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award!
Pam has had a great many accomplishments during all these firsts. As the PI Coordinator she assisted in creating dashboards for Nurse Sensitive Indicators, as the ACNO she led nursing during the EPIC EMR go-live and opening of the Kay Jewelers Pavilion, and currently as the CNIO she has brought the voice of nursing to the technology table. A table that has never had a nurse leader sit.
Pam has pursued two Master’s degrees, holds certification in her specialty, served as a Nurse Researcher at Local, State and National conferences, and served as a formal educator on both local and state levels.
Pam is a humble leader who does not seek outside accolades. She has had a career in nursing at Akron Children’s, across the community, at Local, State, and National levels, that has made an indelible mark on advancing the care of children and the nursing profession.
