If it hadn’t been for Taylor advocating for our grandma and us, we would not have found this out, and potentially, Grandma could have gotten worse.
My husband’s grandma was hit by a car and in the trauma ICU. She was then downgraded to 8 East. When we arrived, she looked miserable, as if something was off. Taylor was coming in to start her shift and came in to check on grandma because her pump was going off. She had not even taken report yet, but jumped right in. While she was in the room, I verbalized that Grandma appeared miserable, was in a lot of pain, and just seemed off from the days before. She immediately paged the MD on call and alerted the appropriate staff. The MD ordered an EKG, troponin, chest x-ray, and the works. During this scary time, Taylor maintained a positive attitude and tried to help Grandma get comfortable in any way possible. She really went the extra mile to make sure she had everything she needed and was comfortable. After the MD received results, she was upgraded to the ICU, and we learned that she had suffered from a heart attack. If it hadn’t been for Taylor advocating for our grandma and us, we would not have found this out, and potentially, Grandma could have gotten worse. Taylor is an amazing nurse, and we were glad to have her by our side during this scary time. Thank you again for advocating and being a voice for your patients. Without you, we might not still have our grandma with us. All patients deserve a nurse like Taylor.
