On behalf of my family & I, we would like to take this moment to nominate Nurse Betty Ann for this prestigious DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional care and compassion as a nurse in the Emergency Room at GRMC. I have had the privilege of witnessing Betty Ann’s dedication and commitment to patient care on several occasions when my family member was brought to GRMC. Despite her stern voice, Betty Ann’s actions spoke volumes about her genuine concern and compassion for her patients. She consistently went above and beyond to ensure that her patients under her care, including my family member, received the utmost attention, compassion, and support while in the Emergency Room. Betty Ann’s caring nature and dedication to her profession were evident in every interaction. She always treated her patients as if they were her own family, going the extra mile to provide comfort, support, and personalized care. Her ability to wear her heart on her sleeve and make patients feel like they were in trusted hands is truly commendable. What stood out the most about Betty Ann was her unwavering commitment to excellence, even in challenging situations with the patient's family. Despite the demanding nature of her role, she always maintained a high standard of care and ensured that her patients received the attention they needed. My family & I believe that Betty Ann’s actions often go unnoticed, as families seen in the Emergency Room are often transferred to another unit or discharged from the hospital, thus leading to the patient & family being unable to thank her for her service & her unwavering dedication as an excellent nurse. The importance above all is that her impact on patients’ lives is immeasurable, and she deserves the recognition for her dedication, compassion, and although I have witnessed her stern demeanor she has always been professional each time I was there with my family member. I speak with confidence when I say that Betty Ann is a true DAISY Nurse.

An impact that we hold dearly every day of our life and have decided to share as we fulfill the wishes of our late aunt, who left us recently. During a challenging period in my aunt's life, she had the privilege of meeting an amazing nurse who truly stood out as an angel in disguise. Her name was Nurse Betty from GRMC, and from the moment she entered my life, everything changed for the better. My aunt was going through a tough time, feeling vulnerable and alone as she faced many health challenges as well as the challenges of expressing herself. But Nurse Betty didn’t just see her as another patient; she treated her like a cherished friend she had known for years. Every day, she made it her mission to check on my aunt and ensure she was comfortable, going above and beyond her job duties with a genuine warmth and compassion that touched my aunt's heart while she was admitted to the GRMC Emergency Room. What struck my aunt the most about Nurse Betty was her dedication to making her feel important and cared for. She was there to listen to her when she needed to say something, providing her with not just medical support but also emotional comfort during moments of doubt and fear. Her presence by my aunt's side filled the void left by the family who were still abroad, who couldn’t be with her on the island where she was receiving care. Nurse Betty’s care didn’t just stop at providing physical comfort; she also instilled hope for my aunt during times when she felt like giving up. Her strong personality, along with her deep love and passion for her patients, was a beacon of light that guided my aunt through the darkest days.

When our family finally arrived, my aunt shared this amazing experience with Nurse Betty and the incredible impact she had on her life. We were just really impressed & shocked by her kindness and dedication, recognizing her as more than just a nurse but a true angel who made a difference in not just my aunt but all our lives through this story. Since then, my aunt has always said that she was touched by an angel cause she is definitely an angel in her eyes.

To Nurse Betty, our family's gratitude knows no bounds. You were not just doing a job; you were living a calling, touching lives with your compassion and making your patients feel like they mattered. Thank you for being my aunt's guardian angel and for reminding her that even in the toughest times, caring souls like you still make a difference in the world.
