Whether it’s bringing in a patient’s favorite snack for them the next morning or taking the time to drop off a patient’s belongings that they forgot in the hospital on the way home from her shift, she is always putting her patients first.
This nomination represents the collective voice of nine staff members who nominated this nurse, which speaks volumes about the impact she has made on the team and the patients she serves.

I have had the pleasure of working with Colleen for the past four years and would like to nominate her for the DAISY Award. She has always gone above and beyond caring for and advocating for her patients. Her personability has allowed her to connect with her patients and coworkers profoundly. She embodies teamwork and has always been supportive of anyone asking for her help. It is an honor to be working by her side and having the opportunity to learn from her wealth of knowledge.

As a float nursing assistant, I have loved working side by side with this nominee for over 20 years. Our time together goes back to Hoag 5. She always made me feel welcome and a part of the staff. She is so deserving of this award and more. Her contributions and dedication to providing excellent care deserve to be celebrated and recognized.

I couldn't possibly choose one story about why this nominee is such a special nurse because there are far too many of them. I am extremely grateful every day to have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from the nurse that she is. She makes it a priority each shift, to make a personal connection with every single one of her patients and is constantly going above and beyond for them. Whether it’s bringing in a patient’s favorite snack for them the next morning or taking the time to drop off a patient’s belongings that they forgot in the hospital on the way home from her shift, she is always putting her patients first.

I have worked with this nominee for over 19 years. She was always such a pleasure to work with. She would make everyone laugh and was always good to her fellow staff. She was always very attentive to her patients and made sure they were very well taken care of.

She truly exemplifies all the qualities that an Extraordinary Nurse should be. Her unwavering compassion, kindness, and hard work are just a few of her countless qualities. Nurses like her are the reason why I chose this career. I could not think of anyone more deserving than her to receive the DAISY Award.

Colleen Popp has always been an incredible asset to this unit and hospital. She is an amazing advocate for all her patients and colleagues as well. She always goes above and BEYOND for all her patients, and ensures they always get the best care to her fullest potential. She truly has a genuine passion for helping not only her patients but her colleagues as well. She has a natural ability to connect with people to make them feel comfortable and supported, which is why I feel she would be a great recipient of the DAISY Award. Her compassion, kindness, and commitment to her career are unwavering and unforgettable.

Not only does she prioritize her patients, but she also prioritizes her colleagues. She is constantly offering a helping hand, a shoulder to lean on, or even a smile or laugh when one is needed the most. When she found herself as a patient on our floor, she couldn't help but continue checking on us and making sure we were all okay, when she was the patient. I feel lucky and grateful to learn from and be surrounded by her. I wouldn't be the nurse I am today without her.

There aren't enough words to explain how deserving this nominee is of the DAISY Award. If there is one person who encompasses what it means to be a DAISY Nurse it is her. As a nurse on our unit for over 25 years, she has been consistent in her commitment to providing outstanding patient care that truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award. Her exceptional dedication, compassion, and clinical expertise have made a vast impact not only on patients but for the staff.

She is always willing to help and lend a hand. She has always put others before herself to every extent possible. She is the first person to always suggest how to improve our patient experience. Her compassion for everything a nurse stands for is what sets her above all others. I cannot thank her enough for her devotion as a colleague.
