She held my hand during the honor walk and allowed me to have the most beautiful, peaceful ending to the most difficult thing I have been through in my life.
Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Sarah, RN, under the absolute worst circumstances.
I was faced with a decision to make my loved one a donor. Sarah was by my side at every step. She seemed to know when I needed her before I even put the call light on. She anticipated everything that I could possibly need to know or ask, and she was the only bright light in the darkest moments of my life.
When the day finally came to say goodbye to my loved one, it was going to happen right when the nurses did their shift change. When I found this out, I immediately didn't think I could go through with it but, then I found out that Sarah was going to stay longer than her already long shift and be by my side to say my goodbyes. She held my hand during the honor walk and allowed me to have the most beautiful, peaceful ending to the most difficult thing I have been through in my life. I could not and would not have made it without her. The least I can do is say thank you. I know that my life is not the only life she has or will touch, and she deserves recognition.
