She always kept us up to date on any information we may have missed or didn’t understand.
My grandmother at age 99 came into ICU and Xiuli (Shirley) Liu was her nurse. She was amazing! My grandmother lived alone with no health issues prior to her getting sick and put in ICU. Needless to say she was not a good patient at times. Shirley was very patient with her and talked her through everything. She was very attentive and went above and beyond for her and our family. My grandmother was moved out of the ICU for two days, but had to go back. Shirley recognized that she had a bed sore and took care of it right away. She sincerely cares about her patients and their family. After days of leaving ICU and being on the medical floor, it was even more apparent how much she did that was above and beyond. She always kept us up to date on any information we may have missed or didn’t understand. One day she came to the medical floor. She came in to check on my grandma even though she was not her nurse. She then informed me that my grandma was refusing her medication at night. So after this, I spoke to my grandmother and she went and got her medication. She is so loving, caring, and patient! Shirley is a saint!
Due to the diligent care that she gave my grandmother, it made me a believer that there are still nurses out there that do this job because they truly care and have genuine compassion. Anyone that is lucky enough to have her as a nurse will never forget her. She has reinstated my faith in the medical field with her gentle care and encouraging words given to my grandmother and our family.
