She is extremely intuitive and knowledgeable, always made sure she knew exactly what things were important to us, and paid special attention to those things.
Our son has a heart condition and myself, my husband and our two daughters have had to temporarily relocate to San Francisco while our little son goes through a series of heart surgeries. We lived at the hospital for 4 months. We have had dozens of nurses during this time but one has really been an anchor for us throughout our entire journey. Marcia has been a huge advocate for us during many hard days. When dealing with complicated heart surgery, many important decisions need to be made each day. Sometimes as a parent it can be hard to be heard, understood, and included by a large team of doctors, especially when you are physically and emotionally drained from helping your kiddo fight for their life. Marcia never even waited for us to ask her for help. She recognized the times that we didn’t feel heard and would immediately work to fix it. She is extremely intuitive and knowledgeable, always made sure she knew exactly what things were important to us, and paid special attention to those things. She would also explain everything to us so we felt informed.

On one occasion, the doctors wanted to change something , and it was not something we had previously discussed, but because Marcia had taken so much time to get to know us, she knew we would want to be part of the decision process on that issue. Another time soon after our son’s birth I was feeling dizzy so she immediately found another nurse to help with him and took me down to the ER herself. She even came back after her shift to check on me before she left. Although she is not normally our assigned nurse, she still frequently checks on us and asks what things she can help with. She remembers small details we’ve told her and always follows up with us.

Living each day at a hospital far from home can be extremely exhausting and lonely, but much less so when Marcia is your nurse! When we see her, our day is instantly better, and we know someone is in our son’s corner. Marcia not only provides exceptionally detailed care to the patient, but she also brings hope and joy to the entire family!
