Derek provided exceptional nursing care from the start to the end of our journey together. I was the last CT patient of the night. I’m a hard stick, so he went to get the ultrasound machine and another nurse. Derek held my hand, and it helped me to calm down and not shake. He stayed while I was getting the contrast. I started reacting to the contrast, and a ton of people came running when they called the code. Everyone there looked worried. Derek was right there checking on me. After a whopping dose of Benadryl, I was wheeled off for observation. I was educated on the things that were done and the possibilities yet to come. Round 2 came with my throat starting to close. The doctor ordered for the epinephrine to be administered. About 10 minutes later, the laughter started again. For the 1.5 hours that I was being watched (minus the time with the epi), we laughed and laughed and laughed. Gut-wrenching guffaws of sheer joy!! You created an experience that easily could have been very scary and traumatizing and turned it into a fun “I survived it!” memory. Thank you!
