Gabe Thaman was the nurse that helped deliver our daughter. Truthfully, in the best way, I don’t even know where to start. We could not have asked for a better experience; it was the best day of our lives, and that is greatly due to the care that we received. Gabe’s first question to me was, “So, are you ready to catch a baby tonight?" And I hadn’t put much thought or even knew that I was allowed to actively participate in the delivery. I told him, that would be amazing if I could. After he talked with the doctor they came to the conclusion that I could actually help deliver the baby! When my wife was pushing, Gabe was so supportive. He made sure my wife felt strong, confident, and as comfortable as possible. With constant words of encouragement and clear and direct communication, Gabe made the whole experience the best day of our lives. I am getting emotional writing this, and that is how incredible Gabe did. Every single question we had, he was able to answer, which made us feel reassured throughout the entire process. He explained what the process could entail and was very upfront that he would let us know about any serious concerns right away. He is the embodiment of what we wanted in a nurse. The absolute bliss, joy, and happiness that we felt that day would not have reached its full potential if we did not have Gabe there. Also, I had no prior contact with Gabe until that night and he made us feel like we had known him for years and that speaks to his character and how passionate he is in his profession. After our delivery, he got us “special refreshments” of Sprite and orange juice mimosas (of course, non-alcoholic). Also, the teamwork that we observed between everyone involved was even more of a reassurance that we were in good hands. This is the least that we could do to show our gratitude towards his care and how thankful we are for the memories of this day. He deserves so much recognition for the job he performs.
