Megan is constantly jumping up and helping others and teaching me.
Megan is a psychiatric RN. She is compassionate and skilled and is mentioned frequently by patients in rounding. One of the notable things Megan does for her patients is take time to listen to their fears and their stories. She helps patients who feel fearful, paranoid, and stigmatized to realize that they are safe and will receive excellent care. She is a bulldog when it comes to fighting for what her patients need. She will move mountains to procure old records that can help us with treatments and find out when they last received long-acting injections (a difficult task considering we take patients from all over the state and sometimes out of the state).

Megan watches the upcoming schedule to see where the greatest area of need is and will move from her normal day-shift pattern to nights, weekends, holidays... anything that needs additional support. She is a preceptor and mentors exemplary new nurses. She tirelessly comes to work everyday calm, smiling, and kind to everyone around her. If she has any downtime, she asks what she can do to help others and then asks her leader if there is anything that she can work on for the unit. She is a UPC Chairperson and is involved in so many taskforces and workgroups. I think the only way to show how impactful her presence is to our team and patients is to share some of the comments I've received in the last five months about her. Some of the things patients have said about Megan:

Megan was always there when I needed her and took the time to talk. I had thoughts of self-harm, and she helped me reason through it. She was super patient.

***

She spent more time with me than the other nurses; she never seemed to be in a rush.

***

She's a really good nurse!

***

Megan was so attentive and kind to me. She was always there when I needed her and took her time explaining things to me that I didn't understand.

***

Megan was my nurse for the first couple of days I was here. She listened to my story and really cared about what I had to say. I felt so comfortable. I wish she could have been the nurse I had every day because it would have been nice not to switch nurses all the time. She was such a good first nurse to have.

***

Megan Bruci jumps in and does all the extras for her patients. They feel supported and well taken care of by her.

***

Megan tried to talk to me; obviously, I’m struggling to put words together, but she was so patient while I tried.

***

Megan is so good. She goes above and beyond for her patients. She works so hard.

***

Megan Bruci took the time to listen. She saw me pacing today in the hallway and just fell in step beside me to see if I was okay. She walked a couple of laps with me, talked, and then went on her way, but that meant a lot.

***

Megan Bruci comes in positive every single day and in a good mood. She gives me a confidence boost, which I really need.

***

Megan is stellar in every respect to her job, as far as I can tell. She is spot on with empathy, patience, knowledge, and judgment.

***

Megan was the best. She literally talked me out of the corner when I was having a panic attack and walked with me. She helped me calm down.

***

Megan was wonderful. Anytime I needed to talk, she was right there. She was compassionate and caring. She sat quietly with me while I cried.

***

Megan got me to answer questions. I'm quiet and she got me to talk. She is mentioned constantly by her teammates in rounding as well:

***

Megan is constantly jumping up and helping others and teaching me. She's amazing. She could be so busy, and if I asked a question, she would take the time to give me the most elaborate answer ever. I appreciate her good attitude and kindness.

***

Megan is wonderful. She works so hard and takes care of business. I appreciate her.

***

She definitely goes above and beyond and is a total lifesaver! She came into a mess/rough shift and not only rocked it out, but took on extra work, and did all the assessments for nights to help with the staffing holes.

***

Megan Bruci is so sweet, and she always has the answers to my questions. She's my textbook as I've started here.

***

Huge kudos to Megan Bruci for coming to the night shift and helping us out. She is so wonderful, and we love her.

***

Megan definitely deserves kudos for working all those night shifts! Please consider awarding Megan the DAISY Award. She is one of the most deserving RNs I've ever had the pleasure of working with.
