Erin helped her do so, and the next thing I knew, the patient was playing music, educating Erin on different skincare products, and teaching her dance moves.
Erin is a phenomenal nurse practitioner and consistently demonstrates strong decision-making, critical thinking skills, and clear communication with the nursing staff, patients, and families. While these skills make her a wonderful provider and a joy to work with, it is her compassion during challenging moments that truly sets her apart.

As a bedside RN, I have worked alongside Erin caring for multiple patients receiving comfort care during the end-of-life stages. Erin connects with these patients and families so deeply. She perfectly balances the professionalism in her role as the APP while fostering comfort, sharing compassion, and being a pillar for these families during hard times.

Last year, we cared for a patient who was admitted for comfort care. Erin developed a close relationship with this patient, and there was a high level of mutual trust. This patient had not gotten out of bed in multiple days, and all she wanted was to be able to refresh herself and change clothes. Erin helped her do so, and the next thing I knew, the patient was playing music, educating Erin on different skincare products, and teaching her dance moves. It brought the patient's mother so much joy to see her personality shine through again.

In a similar situation, Erin was the provider for a patient admitted for comfort care after a challenging few weeks. Erin has cared for this patient for over six years, and it was evident how much the family trusted and valued her role in his care at St. Jude. Beyond collaborating with multiple interdisciplinary teams to make the best decisions in his care, Erin came down multiple times during the shift to check on him, his parents, siblings, and family members. At one point, Erin stayed for an extended period of time, just conversing with the family at the bedside, and I could hear much-needed laughter coming from the patient's room. Erin truly finds a way to connect, celebrate, and honor her patients throughout their care, especially at the end. Erin, it is an honor to work with you and see the impact you make on our patients and their families.
