Alanna has an uplifting personality that supports positivity. Whenever she sees a coworker or team member having a difficult time accomplishing a task, she does not hesitate to support.
Alanna Hogan-Meyers is a wonderful person, experienced nurse, and a wealth of knowledge.  She is always accessible by email or phone with quick responses. She has a list of items that she has implemented since starting her educator position to enhance and support the GI staff.  Here are a few examples:
1.  Created an easy-to-follow orientation checklist for RNs, LPNs, and techs.
2.  Became a BLS instructor to get staff signed off on AHA BLS per job requirements.
3.  Facilitated RN staff to take ACLS initial and recertification classes.
4.  Provided in-service mock codes and code cart review to staff.
5.  Gathered information, review books, and created practice tests for endotechs to be prepared to take the Certified Endoscopic Reprocessing exam.
6.  Initiated and leads a monthly Clinical Education Council Meeting.

Lana really goes above and beyond in her position. Most recently she created online CER practice exams for the GI techs. Although we do have books, Lana felt an online test would be a better study tool. The actual exam will be an online test with a series of multiple choice questions and Lana wanted us to get a feel for the format so we'd be better prepared.

Lana also finds a way to make learning fun for our unit. Earlier this month, we had a giant blow-up colon from Boston Scientific on display in Wilson's main entrance! This prop gave staff and patients a visual of the large intestine, including Crohn's, malignant polyps, and advanced-stage colon cancer. Not only was this display educational, but it was also a fun way to talk about colon cancer and preventative care.

I truly believe Lana exemplifies what the DAISY Award stands for and would be deserving of such an honor.

Alanna joined the Ambulatory Education Team July 2023. When Alanna joined the team she brought with her a wealth of tools and resources that have tremendously supported not only GI but the Ambulatory system as a whole.

Alanna has an uplifting personality that supports positivity. Whenever she sees a coworker or team member having a difficult time accomplishing a task, she does not hesitate to support. Alanna is approachable, which means that others around her do not hesitate to discuss their ideas, thoughts or request her opinion. I have witnessed on multiple occasions, without notice, Alanna has jumped in not only to support the GI service line but the Education team as well.

We have seen on multiple occasions that Alanna has gone above and beyond her job to ensure necessary tasks are accomplished. Whether it is driving to Home Depot to obtain a locked cabinet for medication storage or transporting BLS equipment for service to ensure they are in working condition for use not only for herself, but others. Alanna simply gets the job done.
