Erin is a colleague of mine. We have worked together in a progressive care unit for 7 years now and while I was in nursing school, she taught me so much when I was a PCA. As I transitioned into my new role as a registered nurse, she was one of my preceptors and mentors and I cannot express enough all that she has done for me during that time. Her knowledge and critical thinking skills are superior, and I learned how to think outside of the box while precepting with her. During the coronavirus pandemic, Erin went above and beyond for her patients who were suffering a great deal and provided a sense of comfort for them during their hospitalization and being unable to see their loved ones. She spent extra time in their rooms giving tender, loving care and sometimes just to keep the patient company. On many occasions, Erin grieved alongside her patients and their families during their loss. She has a way of connecting on a deep level with those she cares for, and her patients cannot rave enough about her work ethic and compassion. There is no one more deserving of a DAISY Award than Nurse Erin!
