I am grateful that we have a leader with a good heart and who is a loving and caring person.
This leader is amazing and truly goes above and beyond for all staff members, makes them feel heard, and advocates for them. They make you feel like they genuinely care about you as a person, and they always support the staff to the best of their ability and provide a great floor to work on.

This leader has an open-door policy for the unit. If you just want to vent or need help with a patient or a situation, they are always willing to assist. They always think of their staff first, like bringing in snacks for the unit or just checking on team members while working a shift. The unit has had a lot of changes over the years, but this definitely was a great change for all of us!

This leader has worked to improve their Nursing Communication Scores to some of the best scores in the hospital, and in addition, they have gotten the team to complete bedside shift reports, which is one of our key metrics. They have worked to engage their team in changing the unit culture, which has resulted in a 100% first-year retention rate. This leader is definitely “checking in” with their staff. This leader has taken on key committee roles, which has prompted the engagement of more staff. We can always count on this leader to speak up when the situation warrants further discussion in the most respectful manner, which is greatly appreciated.

Recently, I was able to work with this leader on a big roll-out with a nursing practice change. They were a pleasure to work with. They were willing to answer questions or help me solve an issue without any hesitation and would say, “Sure, come on up, and we can figure it out.” They kept the nursing staff and patient safety a key priority. As we worked through the process and education, they had great suggestions, thought through details, and were able to present this change effectively and clearly to our leadership team. It was a pure pleasure to work together.

This leader is dedicated to their staff and patients. They are very fair, caring and kind with each staff. They are such a team player, and that means a lot to me as a new nurse. There are no words to describe the kind of leader they are. I am grateful that we have a leader with a good heart and who is a loving and caring person.
