I had hit the lowest point of my life and needed hospitalization. Kayla, a nurse working in adolescent psychiatry, was my nurse for the first few nights of my stay. She made sure that I knew of every resource they had at the hospital and provided me with many materials. She sat with me to work through a SUDS score chart and guided me through the entire thing.

She managed to get me to finish it even though I barely had any words to describe anything. I was one of the oldest patients, and she offered to play games with me since she knew I did not have many people my age there.

Even when she wasn’t my assigned nurse, she would make time to sit with me and make sure I felt heard and understood. Before I was discharged from the hospital, she wrote me a letter telling me that the world is a better place with me in it and to take care of myself. Kayla is an outstanding nurse, one that makes you feel loved and supported. She is always there to offer a smile. She truly helped me enjoy living again.
