Danielle is a fantastic nurse and made my experience a lot better.
Danielle was my nurse during labor and delivery, and she was amazing. I was having a lot of pain during labor even though I had an epidural. Danielle advocated for me having anesthesia back out a few times to adjust doses, and eventually place a new epidural line so that I could get some relief.
After delivery, she discovered that my bladder catheter wasn’t draining my urine properly. My OB doc was concerned my kidneys weren’t working properly, and labs confirmed that. Danielle found out there was a clot in the catheter and that’s why it wasn’t draining. It also explained the pain in the belly. She placed a new bladder catheter, and my urine started draining. And then my kidneys continued producing urine and eventually I was able to have catheter removed and urinate on my own.
Danielle also noticed, once in recovery, that I was crying a lot. She spoke with me several times about mental health and that while I may be crying because I’m so tired, and to also take post-partum mental health seriously. Talk with others, join new mother groups, continue follow-ups with docs, etc. In her final call with my OB, she reiterated that to my doc. And when she did the shift change to new nurse she did that again to help make sure others are looking out for me and talking about with me too.
Danielle is a fantastic nurse and made my experience a lot better. I really appreciate her care, what she did for me during this hard labor and delivery, and what she left for those who cared for me afterward.
