My son was admitted to the hospital with a new diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. For two nights of our stay, Steven Guerra was our night nurse. The first night was very rough. We were trying to come to terms with and navigate what was going to be our new normal. Night one Steven was in our room most of the night with the highs and the lows. My seven-year-old boy was poked constantly and through it all he was so courageous. Every step of the way Steven was by his side explaining everything to him and encouraging him. On night two when Steven walked in, my son's face lit up. He said wow we have Steven again! Of course Steven did not disappoint. Steven was again amazing! We had a much better night medically speaking! Steven kept telling my son how proud he was of him from the night before and what a hero he was. He came in with a stuffed animal for him! He was beyond sweet! Not only did he comfort my son, but he was great at helping me navigate this new journey! Thank you a million!
