Sarah McInnes was my son’s nurse post op day 1. He was in the acute phase of his recovery. Additionally, my son has developmental differences that make things like hospital stays, IV’s, blood transfusions etc exceptionally difficult. Sarah not only cared for and advocated for his medical well-being, she went above and beyond in her patience and care with his social and emotional needs as well. Even in the face of her peers losing their cool with my son she remained calm and treated him with the utmost respect and put his needs above her own. She worked diligently well past her shift to ensure everything was taken care of for him. If other staff operated with as much compassion and dedication Sarah exhibited you would have no patient advocacy department.
