I am honored to nominate Ashley Gick, Director of Critical Care, VAT, and IR at DCMC, for the DAISY Leader Award. Despite her relatively short tenure of one year, Ashley has made a profound and lasting impact on our team that has inspired all of us. Because of her motivation and inspiration, the unit had the highest attendance at a recent staff meeting, where issues are discussed and, when necessary, tasks are assigned. There's a noticeable eagerness of staff accepting assignments and participating in projects, Because of Ashley, there has also been an increase participation in unit-based activities and well has hospital wide committees. In her role, Ashley has fostered a culture of collaboration and innovation. Recently, there was a need for a charge nurse. Instead of putting a person in charge, Ashley collaborated with the Team Leaders, allowing them to make the choice. Her inclusive approach ensures that every voice is heard and valued, creating a sense of belonging and empowerment within the team. Ashley's leadership style is defined by her positivity and resilience in the face of challenges. Her ability to stay focused during difficult situations has been a source of strength for our team, instilling trust and confidence in her leadership. Ashley encourages open communication and teamwork among staff members. Through her words and actions, RISE, Ashley motivates everyone to strive for excellence and continually improve our roles.
