Nick went above and beyond to provide compassionate and outstanding care to a dear friend of mine who has dementia. Her anxiety was heightened by her hospital stay. Nick demonstrated extreme patience and kindness to her. He would sit in front of her at her level, holding her hand, explaining what he was doing in a calm and reassuring voice, and most importantly, he would take the time to listen to what she had to say, even though she had trouble expressing herself. She knew she mattered under Nick's care. I could sense an incredible comfort in my dear friend when Nick was caring for her. As a nurse myself, I always vowed to treat every patient as if it was my own mother . . . and that's the care I witnessed with Nick caring for her.
