Dr. Courtnay Caufield has significantly influenced professional nursing practice at Marina del Rey Hospital during her tenure as CNO. She has dedicated her career to the professional development of others. I believe that Dr. Caufield deserves this recognition in support of DAISY’s mission to honor her influence and impact on nursing practice, leadership, and community. LEADERSHIP Role modeling extraordinary behavior Dr. Courtnay Caufield leads with authenticity, respect, courage, integrity, passion, and transparency. She has made significant contributions in elevating the professional practice of nursing. Dr. Caufield is recognized by AONL’s FAONL program, a recognition only given to the most deserving leaders with national contributions. She serves on many boards and was recently the President of ACNL’s coastal chapter, encouraging several MDRH nurses to get involved. She holds a professional certification and is a champion for others. Creating an environment where attributes of trust, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development and ethical behavior are modeled and supported. Dr. Courtnay Caufield is recognized for her leadership in nursing. Courtnay is respected locally and nationally. She is a trusted decision maker based on her dedication to developing other leaders and her extensive experience. Dr. Caufield has been responsible for growing countless nurses at MDRH. She reinvigorated the education and professional development department. She brought leadership development and has supported many nurses to attend their first national conference, opening their eyes to the professional impact they can have. Many nurses have advanced on the clinical ladder, and she has supported first-time poster presentations and recognition of our professionalism. Motivating staff with a shared vision and enthusiasm to achieve better outcomes for themselves and their patients. Dr. Caufield brought the dream of the Magnet journey to MDRH. She pushed leaders and staff nurses to see how their contributions can impact the quality of patient care provided. The Shared Governance participation has grown under her leadership. Several projects have moved forward under her leadership, impacting patient outcomes. She has a clear vision for excellence and has motivated so many to join in on becoming the BEST. Dr. Caufield believes in the professionalism of nursing and in promoting and enhancing the image of nursing within the organization, community, and the profession. She is actively involved internally and externally, working tirelessly to elevate the professional practice. Her service to the organization has resulted in the growth of many leaders at the bedside. She mentors and invests in nurses. She is a nurses nurse and has never forgotten what matters most, the patients and her role in supporting nursing practice has elevated the care provided at MDRH.
