Hannah Gilmartin was helpful in understanding all the things that were going to happen which helped calm me down when I was super nervous. Hannah reassured me on every single level that the care plan was the best for O. Then she explained things in a way that helped my husband understand what was happening. My husband – who’s an engineer – really appreciated her answering questions that were “geared” towards him.
One time we arrived and saw Hannah was reading some papers. I didn’t think much of it and started asking her questions about weaning off the ventilators and how the Jet would work. Hannah told me that she wasn’t sure, but that she might have answers in a few minutes because she was reading some articles on the Jet and the ventilator.
I hope that I’m like Hannah – a nurse that researches to understand more about a piece of equipment that I have never worked with so that I can take the best possible care of my patient.
As we approached O’s one month birthday – Hannah made him the cutest sign for his birthday. It said “O, little cutie is one month.” It had an orange design and seriously made our day to see that sign in his little “room.”
