Teresa Burns has supported the nursing profession for years at IU Health Tipton Hospital and has held various roles as a Nurse Leader. She encourages professional development and supports nursing staff on various projects including Joint Commission survey readiness and nursing regulatory data collection. Teresa has spearheaded and overseen the PTE program for successful designation; she has overseen Waldo project implementation. She has always advocated for the advancement of nursing/clinical innovation and equipment over the years. Teresa has supported and facilitated numerous improvement projects and policy development over the decades. She has supported guidance and overseeing of sustainment for continuous excellence in the organization. Teresa has been a mentor and one to turn to for wisdom and insights whether for professional or personal needs. She advocates for the hospital and the community's needs. She supports through her dedication and volunteerism over the years. She upholds the organization’s mission, vision, and values. There will be many who have not personally seen how she has supported, advocated, and dedicated herself to IU Health Tipton Hospital because they simply have not been here long enough to witness her remarkable efforts to the nursing practice at Tipton and her service to the community. I am privileged to have such a grand peer and role model in the nursing profession. She has taught me much about leadership and mentoring. I celebrate Teresa Burns as an outstanding Nurse Leader.
