I will never forget entering her room and seeing Jeanette Padgett sitting beside our mom, holding her hand, and with tears in her own eyes.
On behalf of my two sisters and each of our husbands, we are nominating this nurse for The DAISY Award. We lost our beloved mom after a stroke that she suffered in the hospital in December. Although Mom never regained consciousness, the six of us were at her bedside from 10 am until 9 pm each day, until she passed. Fortunately, this nurse was on the midnight shift for Mom's last day. She called one of my sisters with the news that we may want to return to Mom's side ASAP. We were all at the hospital within 15 minutes. My husband and I arrived first, worried that Mom may have passed alone. I will never forget entering her room and seeing Jeanette Padgett sitting beside our mom, holding her hand, and with tears in her own eyes. It was so comforting to see that Mom wasn't alone. In addition, as we ran through the Emergency entry, the guard had all of our visitor badges ready, thanks to Jeanette. We all arrived and it wasn't long before Mom passed. In our grief, we could not have hoped for a more thoughtful, caring, and informative nurse to help guide us through the saddest moments of our lives. My family and I truly feel that you have an exemplary employee in Jeanette, she is a true DAISY Nurse.
