Nicholas Koch was caring for a critically ill 34 year old woman that had a wish to marry her significant other of 14 years. Even though she was in the ICU on a ventilator and multiple medications helping to keep her alive, she was alert and oriented and able to express her wishes. Nicholas was facilitated getting the pastor on site to the bedside so that the patient could marry the love of her life. Nicholas went as far as to make flowers for the patient out of different colors of gauze, the patient was ecstatic that he would take the time to do this while caring for such sick patients. Nicholas showed the true compassion that is nursing and the skill of a critical care nurse caring for this patient. I have never been so proud to call someone a co-worker.
