If it was not for Amelia Cox’s skillful, compassionate care I would not be here, in good health and spirit, and recovering to thank her. I arrived mentally unstable with severe physical injuries. She provided the best medical care possible while explaining to me the situation and treatment she was giving me. She gained my trust by listening to my concerns. She made me feel heard and understood. She made me feel safe and comfortable. Because of her outstanding treatment, she was able to talk me down when I had a mental break and tried to leave the hospital against medical advice. I became irate and removed my heart monitor, got dressed into my clothes and tried to leave. She was super calm and she talked to me until I no longer wanted to leave. She then got some medicine from the doctor to calm me down enough that I allowed her to hook me back up to the monitor. If it wasn’t for her, I would have left the hospital which would have certainly led to a much more serious medical condition and injuries. I will be forever grateful for the care she provided when I arrived and continues to provide to me today.
