Mariah was there at the beginning of this ordeal, always with a kind word, helpful information, and answers to questions I didn’t even know I had.
I assumed that I was experiencing the stomach flu, but when I approached day four, my husband took me to urgent care. That quickly progressed to the emergency room and being admitted to the hospital. The diagnosis was a partially blocked intestine, and after receiving the NG tube, I was pretty stressed and concerned. This was the longest stay at a hospital, being healthy and active for over 72 years!

Mariah was there at the beginning of this ordeal, always with a kind word, helpful information, and answers to questions I didn’t even know I had. Most important, always with a smile. I felt that we were kindred sisters. She even helped me make a comfy vest out of a top I had so I could put it over my hospital gown and have a little comfort from home. She was gracious and caring to my husband and son; they felt more at ease after spending a few moments with her. They trusted her knowledge and didn’t second guess her opinions and suggestions. Mariah encouraged me to walk the hall to avoid surgery, always on the side as my positive coach. Well, it worked! I did not need surgery. She was there at discharge and sent me back home. I actually knew I was going to miss our daily interactions and told my husband and son that if I had to return, please try to get me on her floor. Many nurses were special, but for my mental and physical well-being, I knew I had a special woman in my corner, cheering me to the finish line. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Mariah!
