Laura had that connection with my son on another level. For me, Laura was wonderful. When I talk about her, I'm happy and in love with her care and attention.
We arrived at San José hospital with our 2-year-old son; he was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease and had a very stressful day, with blood draws and catheter installation, among other things; he was very afraid, even though we brought his toys. We couldn't cheer him up or get him excited, he didn’t want to be touched by anyone, it was an agony.
Until Laura arrived, she was so warm and empathetic, I don’t know what she did, but she was magic! My child’s eyes shone with Laura, his favorite nurse, A smiled making a charming face and let her take his vital signs, finally we took a break, it was wonderful, Laura with her patience, touch, cuddles really won over my A and did even more, she made our stay lighter during these stressful times.
We had to see our child suffer with each visit from doctors or nurses or each time someone new entered the room; we only heard A say "no, no, no," "don't touch me, calling us mom/dad," but the fact that Laura arrived every day at her shift was a relief to us, we were able to take a break, he looked like a different kid, perhaps it wasn't a “yahoo, yahoo!” but at least he was willing to cooperate with everything that had to be done.
Laura was an angel for us; she always had something special for him, like a balloon or drawings; she took him to paint, she took him out to play or on a ride with the hospital tricycle, she always gave an extra, she wasn’t like others, who arrived and did their job and that's it, she always had a special detail, and that was always appreciated.
Laura gave us brilliant and excellent care. I don't want to say that the others didn't do it; everyone's attention was excellent, but Laura had that connection with my son on another level. For me, Laura was wonderful. When I talk about her, I'm happy and in love with her care and attention.
My son seemed happy, and she really made our stay very pleasant and peaceful. We appreciate the hard work and all the fantastic attention, love, warmth, and empathy. Thank you, Laura, for taking care of my son as if he was part of your family.
