After emergency surgery and six days in the hospital recovering, Randy Osborne was the first Nurse who was able to get the patient to smile. Randy took extra time to get to know him and to teach him about taking care of himself. He showed him the importance of holding a pillow against his stomach to cough and the patient has done that now every time he coughs. Randy asked the patient about what activities he was involved with in school and even came by before the end of his shift to specifically wish the patient the best in his Senior year of High School. Randy was able to help him find his smile and laugh after days of recovery. His efforts at making the hospital room a friendly environment and his dedication to the mental health, not only physical health, of my son made this mom’s heart happy. We’re truly thankful he was sent our way! Any questions we had or anything we needed, Randy was on it. Throughout the patient's stay, Randy was there to care for him every night. Randy went the extra mile in every way. He made time for careful, attentive physical assessments and responded to every finding. He made my grandson laugh and smile with jokes. He always explained things in a way to easily understand and promptly called the Doctor to alert them when there was a need. Randy always had a Student Nurse or individual on orientation with him. You could hear him patiently guiding each trainee.
