Nina is an amazing nurse, leader, instructor, role model, and MSN student. She is driven and committed to ensuring our patients receive the best possible care by striving to prepare herself and her students to be the best possible nurses. Nina was an ADN graduate and worked for many years as a direct care nurse. In that role, she served as preceptor, charge nurse, and mentor. She wanted to expand her education, completed her BSN degree and then began formally teaching in the PN/ADN nursing program. After completing her BSN, Nina was struck by the desire to continue her education, and she enrolled in the MSN program. I am submitting this nomination collectively from all MSN faculty at Vermont State University. We, in consensus, agree that Nina exemplifies the role of a nurse and a student. She is so engaged and driven as she completes all assignments with grading above 98% consistently. But her excellence is not in how she completes her work it is in how she applies it to her practice and shares it with her undergraduate students. Nina holds herself, her students, and her Peer MSN students to a very high level. She always raises the bar for excellence and professionalism. Many peer MSN students have commented on how much they have learned from Nina as a classmate. Nina's continued education directly impacts the care she delivers herself and the demands of her students. Many patients comment on how thorough, compassionate, and caring Nina is every interaction. As an MSN faculty member, Nina inspires me to continually seek new evidence-based practices and makes me a better teacher because she is an exemplary student. In this time of nursing shortages and workforce challenges, Nina is the ideal student, nurse, and teacher that every facility would be lucky to have. She makes the nurse-patient, instructor-student, and MSN student-MSN faculty connections so rich.
