Even if she didn't have the answer or couldn't help us at that particular moment, it was only a short time later that she was back with the information we needed.
I would like to start by saying every nurse deserves to be recognized that was involved in my wife's care. They all were courteous, knowledgeable, kind and professional. Renee Lepley was above that level. My first impression was when Renee told me she was reviewing my wife's history, she wanted to know the complete story and had detailed questions concerning her previous care. My second impression came when she noticed difficulty breathing at night, notified the doctor and she changed my wife's orders to give her more comfort. My next impression was when she accidentally sprayed some liquid on my wife, she not only apologized many times but changed her gown, her bedding, helped give her a bath and noticed her lips were chapped. She gave her medicine and a drink to help her with the dryness. I was almost brought to tears when while answering all our questions with compassion and simplicity she looked intently at my wife's face, went over to the sink and wet a towel corner. She then ever so tenderly told my wife "we need to get these eye boogers out" and proceeded to carefully wipe the corners of her eyes. While deciding my wife's future care, my children (one of whom is also a nurse) were equally impressed. The sorrow in her voice after we made a difficult decision and were very emotional, could be felt by everyone in the room. She had only cared for my wife for two days, but Renee made us feel like she knew my wife (their mother) as well as we did. Even if she didn't have the answer or couldn't help us at that particular moment, it was only a short time later that she was back with the information we needed. We were never left hanging or thinking she forgot about us. I'm sure Renee had other patients to take care of while helping us, but it made us (especially me) feel as though we had our own private nurse. Exceptional!
