Anywhere a stroke patient is, you will find Laura's work. For those who work closely with Laura, you become aware that she is available for any concerns, questions, or issues at any time. She reviews every chart and calls into each unit to ensure everyone knows the processes and appropriate care needed to achieve optimal outcomes for the community we serve.
I want to nominate Laura Moore as a DAISY Nurse Leader. Laura's journey began in the cardiac intensive care unit in 2016, and she swiftly rose to the role of assistant nurse manager in 2017. Her dedication to patient care led her to become the nurse manager of CVICU and CCU in 2018, and in 2019, she transitioned into the stroke service line as the Stroke Service line manager. In this new role, Laura's true abilities to lead and collaborate began to shine. Under Laura's stewardship, Winter Haven Hospital received DNV certification as a Primary Stroke Center Certification Plus (PSC+) in 2020, and Bartow Regional Medical Center achieved certification as Acute Stroke Ready (ASR). These certifications directly result from Laura's leadership and ability to work across multiple hospitals and areas. Laura is not a manager of one unit; she must collaborate with numerous areas and units to form one cohesive team. Laura's gift is her ability to collaborate across units, departments, and hospitals to achieve one goal. These units and teams include key stakeholders, including Polk County EMS, multiple emergency room departments, neuro floors, interventional radiology, critical care units, the administrators on duty, and our Stat Nurse team.

The following comments received from multiple units demonstrate Laura's ability to collaborate with a wide variety of specialties:

•    I want to support the nomination of Laura Moore for DAISY Nurse Leader. I have worked closely with Ms. Moore for a few years as the Stroke Director for Winter Haven Hospital. During this time, I watched Laura build the stroke program into what it is today. Through her strong teamwork, commitment to the highest quality patient care, and enthusiasm, we achieved Thrombectomy Capable status with DNV. Laura is very detail-oriented and works with all the departments throughout the hospital to get to the root cause of any issues in patient care or find ways to improve the care being provided. She is always professional in challenging situations and tries to see the problem from all sides to help solve it. She goes above and beyond to obtain our patient outcomes and gathers the data we need to be the best program we can be. Laura is the best stroke coordinator I have ever worked with, and I am grateful for her partnership in making our stroke program a success. She takes the time to foster relationships and make connections with everyone involved in stroke care. Laura always looks at things diplomatically and is a critical player in the improvement process. She is an excellent role model for nurses who wish to be strong leaders and help improve patient care.

•    I want to take a few minutes to tell you about our Stroke coordinator/manager who runs the program for three hospitals at BayCare. Her name is Laura Moore. I worked with Laura at Winter Haven Hospital for over four years. During that time, I learned so much about the program and how to care for our patients safely in the CVICU. Laura has always been available to answer any questions to help clarify the appropriate documentation for this patient population. She is approachable, patient, and willing to explain all the information we need at any given time. Laura is very devoted and passionate about our stroke program. I have personally called her on weekends and holidays when I needed clarification on something, and she has either answered the phone or called me back promptly. Laura respectfully speaks to the team and promotes a very professional and approachable environment. I am much supported by her hard work and dedication to our region. Her interest is in providing the safest and highest quality of care to the patients we serve in our communities. She is an absolute asset to BayCare and constantly exemplifies BayCare’s values. She is a pleasure to work with!

•    I am thankful for Laura's guidance and support for Bostick 3's stroke program. She is consistently available to answer any nurses' questions or concerns with our stroke patients. She is always cheerful and happy to help. She works hard on our stroke program, and her passion and experience do not go unnoticed. I cannot think of a deserving nurse leader to receive this award. Kaylee W Laura Moore is an exemplary leader, spearheading initiatives and driving excellence within our stroke program at the hospital. Her commitment to patient care and staff education sets a commendable standard for the entire team.

In summary, Laura truly represents the qualities of a DAISY Nurse Leader, as evidenced by her commitment to excellence and her willingness to work with all departments throughout the hospital to identify and address any issue in patient care. Laura is always striving to improve the outcomes of the community we serve. Her professionalism and ability to see problems from all perspectives make her an asset to our team. Laura's dedication to fostering relationships and making connections with everyone involved in stroke care sets her apart as a strong leader and role model for nurses.
