I am a patient care tech who works with Gabrielle a lot. Her compassion and patience for her patients is unmatched. Gabby always goes above and beyond to ensure that not only her assigned patients but every patient on the unit is comfortable, happy, and satisfied. Even if she may have a lot of tasks to do, she always puts her patients first and does not leave their room until they are content.

There was one patient in particular whom Gabby cared for as the patient was declining, and she stuck by the patient, as well as the patient’s family, throughout the battle. After a while, the patient was transferred to a different unit, but Gabby went to visit the patient after her shifts to ensure they were comfortable. Eventually, we overheard the patient’s room number called over the intercom, stating they were coding. Gabby was devastated and went to check on the patient and the patient’s family right when her shift was over. The patient sadly passed away. Gabby got a card, had the whole unit sign it, and attended the patient’s funeral.

I am hard of hearing and have dealt with a lot of difficulties while working in a hospital. It’s always a relief when I see that Gabby is assigned to work with me. She never fails to check in on me and ask if I need help. If I do need help, she is always the first to volunteer with no hesitation.

As her coworker, I aspire to be like her as a nurse one day, and I look up to her greatly, as do so many others. Her compassion and heart of gold is unmatched. I know everybody would love to see her be recognized for her hard work.
