They both said that they could tell this student was very knowledgeable by the way they provided care, communicated with them, and provided education.
This nomination is written by request of the client and the client’s family, as they were primarily Spanish-speaking and could not write in English. This student was assigned to a client in clinical who was experiencing many new health alterations. English was not this family’s first language. The client and the client's wife asked to speak to the instructor. They said that this student was very patient with them while providing care and talking with them. They said the student treated them so well, giving compassionate care to the client, as well as showing compassion to the client's wife, who was also the client's home caregiver. This couple went on to say that the student explained everything she was doing for them and made sure they understood what to expect before proceeding with any skill. The client and the client's wife said the student was very attentive to all of their needs throughout the day. They both said that they could tell this student was very knowledgeable by the way they provided care, communicated with them, and provided education. This client was being discharged with a urinary catheter. The client required a lot of education about this new device. The client and the client’s wife stated that this student made them feel ready to take on this new task. This student not only educated the client on how to care for this catheter, but took into consideration their sociocultural needs. The client said they could tell this student had so much love for their patients. The client’s wife stated that this student provided her husband with the best care while they were in that facility. The wife ended with this statement, “I love her so much, and I don’t even know her.”
