I have worked with Beth Crossland for three weekends. She is always very knowledgeable about her patients but most importantly she sees issues that would prevent a patient from going safely into surgery and works to correct it. One weekend a patient had a Potassium of 2.8, which normally requires us to cancel surgery, but she worked with the floor nurse independently to get an order from the patient's hospitalist so we could correct it so they could still have their procedure. She is always a great advocate for her patients. She has had a patient requiring multiple doses of phenylephrine and after calling me, she called the patient's surgeon as well as the intensivist to assess. I know my patients are in great hands when she is at work. She will facilitate great interdisciplinary communication as well. There was a patient that anesthesia didn’t deem safe for surgery, so she initiated a conversation via secure chat with the urologist, intensivist, anesthesia, and the patient's PCP. She is a great nurse with exceptional experience, humility, kind bedside manner and is a great teammate!
