Through Tanya’s steadfast and unwavering support, she was able to establish him with Community Care Urology services and get the care he so desperately needs and deserves.
The Olympia CBOC nursing team is proud to nominate our own Tanya Scott for the DAISY Award! She is a fierce advocate for her veterans. She goes above and beyond for each of the veterans she services by ensuring safe patient care, advocacy, and continuity. She has exemplified her nursing advocacy with a patient she has been following since 2022. She has followed through with his high acuity needs and multiple co-morbid diseases since that time. She has assisted in his chronic disease management, helping to get his HGBA1C and weight in better control for potential weight management and surgical intervention.

This veteran was referred to Urology for his clinical needs. Once his care was completed, the veteran returned to Primary Care for monthly catheter changes and care. Tanya once again assumed the care management role. At that time, he was noted to have serious anatomy changes that were not noted in the chart or relayed to Tanya. Upon re-evaluation, utilizing her clinical knowledge and judgment, she immediately recognized this was detrimental to this patient’s health and took actions that required a higher level of care from multiple specialty clinics for his difficult catheter changes and new anatomical changes. Tanya highly advocated to ensure that he would be seen by urology again for these new conditions. While facing multiple setbacks including a change in his PCP and challenges with follow-up care. Through Tanya’s steadfast and unwavering support, she was able to establish him with Community Care Urology services and get the care he so desperately needs and deserves. She is known throughout the clinic as a leader and is always willing to teach, help, and mentor wherever needed. She is also known for her compassion, tenacity, and love for our veterans. At the Olympia CBOC, she is also the lead catheter champion as well as one of the women's health liaisons to ensure the safety and best practices of the clinic team and those we serve. We are so fortunate to have Tanya as a team member!
