I certainly felt safe and well cared for by him.
All the staff members we encountered were welcoming, reassuring, professional, and a real credit to the organisation. This included domestic assistants, food service assistants, doctors, trainees and consultants, nurses, nurse assistants, receptionist staff, and physio, to name a few.

However, there was one member of the ward team who really stood out to my wife and I. This was Matthew on Ward 33. He was thoughtful and attentive, very caring, and had a natural ability to bring calm to a busy clinical environment, noticing small but essential things. The true essence of good nursing care is something we sometimes overlook. Matthew was easy to talk to and, being relatively new to SFH, treated us as he would anyone else and explained things in a superb way, and answered all our queries, providing exemplary reassurance. Having worked in a number of different healthcare environments, countries, and organizations, he also brought a depth of understanding and compassion that is a real asset to Sherwood.

Without doubt, he will be an exemplary nursing leader of the future. My wife, not the easiest of judges, told me that Matthew could care for any of our family should the need arise. I certainly felt safe and well cared for by him.

Please can I take this opportunity to thank all members of #TeamSFH who cared and helped me during my in-patient stay but particularly a huge thank you to Matthew
