Between surgeries, hospitalization and inpatient rehab, I spent 41 days admitted over a 2-month period. My 2nd admission was when I had bacterial meningitis. It was a very scary and stressful time for me and my family. The entire medical staff was amazing, however, Aster stuck out to me as an incredible nurse. Although I do not remember much of this visit due to the meningitis, the times I do remember she was my nurse. She was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to listen and understand my medical situation. I felt like the way she listened and paid attention grew our trust in her quickly. There were a few days that I had (we assume) delirium from the meningitis and my boyfriend was having trouble with my needs throughout the night. Aster was my nurse, and I will forever be thankful. My actions were very confusing to both of them, but with Aster's knowledge of what was going on, she knew it was important to help me feel safe and understood as well as understanding what my boyfriend was going through, as it was his first time experiencing anything like this (and hopefully last!). I truly believe having Aster as my nurse helped me feel a sense of calmness, peace and trust in order to give me more space to heal. She is truly amazing at what she does and hope that she is recognized for it.
