I was lucky enough to have Todd as my nurse during two emergency room visits over two days. The first time I went into the emergency room, I was very distressed and anxious about my condition, and Todd was such a calming presence and eased my mind. His gentle, patient demeanor was exactly what I needed. When I had to return to the ER the same day I was discharged, I was again very anxious about my health. But when I was brought back to the room I was assigned to and I saw Todd sitting at the nurses’ station, I was thrilled to know that he was on duty again and even more so when I realized he was assigned to my case. Todd checked in with me regularly, answered all my questions patiently, and made me feel reassured that I was in good hands. He recognized that I was going through a hard time and feeling anxious, and he very gently offered to set me up with a social worker if I thought it would be helpful to talk to someone. Todd also took the lead in changing my ileostomy appliance as well as the dressings for my very deep and large midline surgical wounds. This process is complicated and delicate, and Todd took his time to ensure it was done properly and with minimal discomfort to me. He said that he didn’t have extensive experience with such procedures, but it was by far the best wound dressing and ostomy change that I had experienced to date. This is a testament to Todd‘s professionalism, passion, and dedication to making his patients feel comfortable and confident in the care they are receiving. I went into the ER feeling awful and anxious, and I left feeling great and confident, and that is 100% due to the care I received from Todd.
