She has great leadership qualities and encourages and motivates the team to provide patients with the best care possible.
Ms. Yarbrough-Moore has made a positive impact by demonstrating exceptional leadership skills in the SCI Outpatient Clinic.

She not only advocates for SCI veterans and their unique physical needs, but she connects with them and aims to assist holistically as well.

Since becoming Nurse Manager, she has worked tirelessly to ensure staff are treated with respect, are listened to, and are protected. She works alongside the interdisciplinary team to keep employees and patients safe while here at the VA, this includes collaborating with members of the disruptive behavior committee when various safety issues arise.

She encourages open discussions where staff feel comfortable to share their feelings, concerns, and opinions. She works to address any and all staff concerns in a timely and with clear communication. The team knows that issues brought up will be addressed and not left forgotten. This allows the team to foster trust and strengthens teamwork.

She models the ICARE values daily, encourages her team to do the same, motivates her nurses to get certified, advocates for LVNs, RNs, and NAs to collaborate to improve patient outcomes, applauds her team for their achievements in Logicare education completion rates, and creates a positive work environment.

As one staff member stated, “She has great leadership qualities and encourages and motivates the team to provide patients with the best care possible. Furthermore, she excels in speaking up for the interests and worries of the nursing staff, making sure we have the tools and assistance required to provide excellent care.”

Another staff member stated, “She advocates for individuals as well as the clinic as a whole, supports individual goals, creates a safe environment, and encourages new ideas and values input from the team.”

Yet another staff member stated, “She is the best manager I have ever had because she is so intelligent, caring, compassionate, and fair. She is the best advocate for the employees in OPC. She makes the time to really listen to our concerns and tries her best to help us. She gives us the time to hear our concerns and does her best to be our advocate. That inspires me to be the best nurse I can be because I feel so appreciated and valued. She inspires me to work harder, to do better, and be kinder. I know I am supported, and that is very reassuring. She is our best champion who will fight for her patients and employees. She is tireless in her dedication and deserves the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.”

What sets Ms. Yarbrough-Moore apart is her commitment to mentoring our nursing staff. Her approachable nature and open communication style have greatly contributed to the positive morale and team spirit within our clinic.

Our SCI Outpatient Clinic is grateful for her leadership, support, and guidance, always. The VA is lucky to have a leader like Ms. Yarbrough-Moore.
