Madi orchestrated a New Year’s Day “Dance party” with staff in the Day Room for a patient with cancer who mentioned he would never be able to celebrate New Year’s Day again.
Madi has a way of engaging our patients and interacting with them that brings out the best not only in her but also in them. She remains professional in her actions, yet her exuberance for life and natural positivity can’t help but shine through. This energy she has is felt by her patients. They light up when she walks in the room and ask when she will return when she is not on tour. This is likely because Madi spends any extra time she has doing individualized things to make each person feel better. For example, she orchestrated a New Year’s Day “Dance party” with staff in the Day Room for a patient with cancer who mentioned he would never be able to celebrate New Year’s Day again. Another time, she cut out paper snowflakes with one of our long-term (placement) patients just to get him out of his room and stimulate him. Finally, she colored pictures from a picture book with a patient so the patient would have gifts to give to her family when they came to visit. These examples are a fraction of what Madi does and what she gives to our vets. She deserves this recognition for her I-CARE attitude and commitment.
